Stalled space
Homeowner Merrie Frisch
had become disenchanted
with her family’s den. She
craved a room where she
could relax with her
husband and daughter. The
skeleton of a comfy family
room was there—hardwood
floors, vaulted ceiling, and
upholstered furniture—but
Merrie wasn’t sure where
to go next.
Back to life
“The room felt like it was
stopped in motion,” says
Stephen. “It didn’t feel like a
family room.” A bright
blue-and-yellow palette,
inexpensive wooden pieces,
and furniture pulled from
other rooms warms the
space. New storage cleans up
and streamlines the TV area.
And pulling the seating away
from the walls helps the
seating area hang together.
